2024 César Nominations : 16 films from the Official Selection of the Festival de Cannes

49 nominations in all, including 12 for Thomas Cailley’s The Animal Kingdom, which opened Un Certain Regard, and 11 for Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall, Palme d’or 2023.

 

The nominations for the 49th César Awards ceremony were announced on Wednesday January 24. The films presented in the Official Selection at the 76th Festival de Cannes were warmly welcomed by the voting members of the Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques.

A total of 16 films are represented: 12 nominations for Thomas Cailley’s The Animal Kingdom which opened Un Certain Regard, 11 for Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall (Palme d’or 2023), 4 for Valérie Donzelli’s Just the Two of Us, 4 for Catherine Breillat’s Last Summer, 3 for Trần Anh Hùng’s The Taste of Things (Best Director), 3 for Mona Achache’s Little Girl Blue, 2 for Maïwenn’s Jeanne du Barry, which opened the Festival, 2 for Marguerite’s Theorem by Anna Novion, 1 for Abbé Pierre – A Century of Devotion by Frédéric Tellier, 1 for Acid by Just Philippot, 1 for Kidnapped by Marco Bellocchio, 1 for Fallen Leaves by Aki Kaurismäki (Jury Prize), 1 for Four Daughters by Kaouther Ben Hania, 1 for Mars Express by Jérémie Périn, 1 for Perfect Days by Wim Wenders (Best Actor) and 1 nomination for The Nature of Love by Monia Chokri.

The Festival de Cannes would like to thank and congratulate all the film professionals whose works have been acclaimed by the members of the Academy.

The 77th Festival de Cannes will take place from Tuesday May 14 to Saturday May 25, 2024. The Official Selection will be unveiled mid-April 2024.
