Stars, Music, and Million-Euro Bids Illuminate amfAR Gala at 79th Cannes Film Festival

Antibes, France – The 79th Cannes Film Festival saw its annual amfAR Gala once again draw a constellation of Hollywood stars, fashion luminaries, and musical talents to the luxurious Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes. The glamorous event, held on May 21, 2026, served as a powerful platform for fundraising in support of vital AIDS research.

The evening commenced with an elegant outdoor reception, setting a sophisticated tone before guests transitioned into a lavish dinner. Attendees were treated to electrifying live performances by acclaimed artists Robbie Williams, Zara Larsson, and Lizzo. The gala was expertly hosted by actress Geena Davis, whose iconic image graces this year’s festival poster, a tribute to her classic film Thelma & Louise.

Lizzo, speaking on the red carpet, expressed her enthusiasm for her forthcoming music project, emphasizing her desire for audiences to rediscover joy, dancing, and laughter through her new album.

The star-studded guest list included notable personalities such as Rami Malek, Eva Longoria, Heidi Klum, Sofia Carson, Natasha Poly, and Bar Refaeli.

One of the evening’s most anticipated segments was the charity auction, which delivered a significant highlight. Actor William Abadie presented a unique opportunity for fans to appear in the popular series Emily in Paris. During the spirited bidding, Abadie unexpectedly revealed that the show’s sixth season would mark its finale. This exclusive chance ignited intense competition, ultimately leading to two separate walk-on roles being sold for an impressive 375,000 euros each.

The amfAR Gala at Cannes continues to be a cornerstone event, seamlessly blending high-profile entertainment, cutting-edge fashion, and dedicated philanthropy. Its consistent success underscores its critical role in advancing global AIDS research efforts.
