Emilia Perez Shines at the 77th Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet

May 18, 2024 – Cannes, France – The prestigious Cannes Film Festival witnessed a spectacular evening as the cast and crew of Emilia Perez graced the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals. The much-anticipated film, directed by the acclaimed Jacques Audiard, drew immense attention from film enthusiasts and critics alike.

Among the notable attendees were composer Clément Ducol, singer and actress Camille, actress Adriana Paz, French politician Rachida Dati, global sensation Selena Gomez, Hollywood star Zoe Saldana, actor Édgar Ramírez, leading actress Karla Sofía Gascón, costume designer Virginie Montel, and choreographer Damien Jalet. Their presence added glamour to an already dazzling event.

The film Emilia Perez is a genre-blending narco-family drama with musical elements. Karla Sofía Gascón takes on the groundbreaking role of Emilia Perez, portraying both her pre-transition identity as cartel leader Manitas and her journey toward self-acceptance. Selena Gomez stars as Jessi Del Monte, a woman caught in the dangerous world of cartel operations.

The Cannes audience was captivated by the film, which has already begun generating Oscar buzz. Karla Sofía Gascón made history by winning the Best Actress award, marking the first time a transgender actress has received this honor at Cannes. The film is set for theatrical release on November 1, followed by its Netflix debut on November 13.
