Cannes Film Festival 2026: Official Selection Expands with New Titles

Cannes, France – April 22, 2026 – The 79th Cannes Film Festival, set to captivate audiences from May 12 to May 23, 2026, has announced further additions to its Official Selection. These new films complete the highly anticipated lineup, promising a diverse and compelling cinematic experience.

 

As revealed today, following the initial press conference on April 9, several notable works will join the prestigious festival across various categories:

Competition

James Gray’s PAPER TIGER has been added to the Competition section, vying for the coveted Palme d’Or.

Un Certain Regard

The Un Certain Regard selection welcomes three new films:

  • VICTORIAN PSYCHO by Zachary Wigon
  • MÉMOIRE DE FILLE (A Girl’s Story) by Judith Godrèche
  • TITANIC OCEAN by Konstantina Kotzamani

Additionally, Laetitia Masson’s debut film, ULYSSE, will serve as the Closing Film of Un Certain Regard.

Cannes Première

The Cannes Première section sees a significant expansion with:

  • THE END OF IT by Maria Martinez Bayona
  • MARIE MADELEINE (Mary Magdalene), a first film by Gessica Généus
  • AQUÍ by Tiago Guedes
  • MARIAGE AU GOÛT D’ORANGE by Christophe Honoré
  • SI TU PENSES BIEN by Géraldine Nakache

Special Screenings

Several films have been added to the Special Screenings category, including:

 

  • VESNA (Spring) by Rostislav Kirpičenko
  • CENIZA EN LA BOCA (Ashes), a first film by Diego Luna
  • TANGLES by Leah Nelson, also a first film and an animation
  • LE TRIANGLE D’OR by Hélène Rosselet-Ruiz, a first film
  • GROUNDSWELL by Joshua & Rebecca Tickell, a documentary

 

Family Screening

For family audiences, Olivier Clert’s animated debut, LUCY LOST, will be featured in a dedicated Family Screening.

These additions underscore the 79th Cannes Film Festival’s commitment to showcasing a broad spectrum of global cinema, from established masters to emerging talents. Film enthusiasts worldwide eagerly await the commencement of the Cannes Film Festival on May 12, 2026.
