CANNES, FRANCE The highly anticipated French body horror film Sanguine (internationally titled Species) received a glamorous midnight screening at the prestigious 79th Cannes Film Festival on May 14, 2026. The premiere marked a significant moment for the festival’s Out of Competition Midnight Screenings lineup, drawing an enthusiastic international audience and global media attention.

Directed by Marion Le Corroller, Sanguine is her debut feature film. The narrative follows Margot, a young intern navigating the grueling and highly competitive environment of an emergency room. As she encounters multiple patients her own age presenting unusual symptoms, Margot begins to experience disturbing physical changes herself, blending the high-stakes tension of medical drama with visceral body horror elements .
